Pipex Drainage and Civils Ltd have supplied a lightweight marsh drain headwall to aid the control of water levels on an important RSPB nature reserve close to Belfast harbor. Due to the soft peat based ground conditions the normal use of a concrete headwall was not possible due to the excess weight and chance of subsidence.
The Pipex solution was chosen due to:
• Light weight so easier to install
• Maintenance free
• Long life span without corrosion

From the initial contact Pipex were quick and responsive to all questions and queries. They were able to take our basic CAD drawing and adapt it for manufacture in HDPE whilst maintaining all the critical elements of the project including the integration of our water level control equipment. The product we achieved was along a similar cost as a concrete option but benefited from the above unique features. Throughout the process we were kept informed of the progress and the equipment was delivered complete and in prefect condition to the site on time.
