Packaged Sewage Pumping Stations
Background
Pipex Ltd designs, manufactures, and supplies Packaged Pumping Stations that are delivered to site ready to install. These units are fabricated using polypropylene to purchasers’ hydraulic and structural design (for grounds traffic loads) and M&E requirements. M&E fittings including pipework, pump pedestals, guide rails, and lifting chains and fitted at Pipex Ltd’s works. They have advantages of using a welded thermoplastic material, that include self-cleansing and leak tightness properties.

Scope of assessment
The performance of Pipex Ltd’s Packaged pumping Station product when used for sewerage applications against the specified requirements of the UK water industry and a general “fitness for purpose” requirement.
Programme
- Evaluation of design requirements against BS EN 752-6; Sewers for Adoption 6th Edition and Sewers for Scotland 1st Edition.
- Product type testing against BS 7158;
- Audit of the production quality control systems;
- Review of documentation and guidance, for designers and installers, and witness installation;
- Evaluation of operational practices, including high pressure jetting test and impact test.
Results
The assessment procedure found that the Packaged Sewerage Pumping Station met the requirements of Assessment Schedule PT/262/0307.
A WRc Approved certificate was awarded to Pipex Ltd for the Packaged Sewerage Pumping Station in March 2007.
